C&rsquo;est particuli\u00e8rement vrai \u00e0 l&rsquo;adolescence. Le fer est important pour le d\u00e9veloppement de tous les tissus de l&rsquo;organisme, y compris le <sup>cerveau1<\/sup>.  <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Les sympt\u00f4mes d&rsquo;une carence en fer chez les adolescents<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La carence en fer \u00e0 l&rsquo;adolescence a \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la fatigue, aux maux de t\u00eate, au syndrome des jambes sans repos, \u00e0 l&rsquo;irritabilit\u00e9, \u00e0 l&rsquo;intol\u00e9rance \u00e0 l&rsquo;exercice et aux troubles de l&rsquo;apprentissage2<sup>,3<\/sup>. Si la carence en fer est importante, elle peut conduire \u00e0 une an\u00e9mie ferriprive associ\u00e9e \u00e0 des sympt\u00f4mes de fatigue, \u00e0 une capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;exercice r\u00e9duite, \u00e0 des palpitations cardiaques, \u00e0 des vertiges, \u00e0 des malaises, \u00e0 une p\u00e2leur et \u00e0 un essoufflement4<sup>,5<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Changements des cellules sanguines \u00e0 l&rsquo;adolescence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Il existe une relation essentielle entre le fer, les globules rouges et l&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne. Une substance appel\u00e9e h\u00e9moglobine r\u00e9side dans vos globules rouges. L&rsquo;h\u00e9moglobine aide \u00e0 transporter l&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne dans tout votre corps. Le fer est n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la fabrication de l&rsquo;h\u00e9moglobine dans les globules rouges. En l&rsquo;absence de fer, votre corps ne peut pas fabriquer suffisamment d&rsquo;h\u00e9moglobine, ce qui peut entra\u00eener une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.feramax.com\/patient-information-2\/what-is-iron-deficiency-anemia\/\">an\u00e9mie ferriprive<\/a>.    <\/p>\n<p>Des changements se produisent dans les globules rouges au cours de l&rsquo;adolescence, ce qui a un impact sur les besoins en fer. Le taux d&rsquo;h\u00e9moglobine \u00e9volue avec l&rsquo;\u00e2ge et atteint son niveau adulte vers 15 <sup>ans5<\/sup>. Les facteurs suivants peuvent \u00e9galement augmenter le risque de carence en fer chez un adolescent ;  <\/p>\n<h5><em>Pouss\u00e9e de croissance \u00e0 l&rsquo;<sup>adolescence3<\/sup><\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Les filles connaissent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une pouss\u00e9e de croissance 6 \u00e0 12 mois avant leurs premi\u00e8res r\u00e8gles, puis leur croissance ralentit consid\u00e9rablement. Les gar\u00e7ons, quant \u00e0 eux, ont tendance \u00e0 avoir une pouss\u00e9e de croissance deux ans plus tard que les filles, et la pouss\u00e9e de croissance des gar\u00e7ons peut durer plus <sup>longtemps7<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<p>Des niveaux r\u00e9duits de fer peuvent survenir pendant les p\u00e9riodes d&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration de la croissance, lorsque la masse des globules rouges augmente. Cela peut \u00eatre d\u00fb \u00e0 un apport nutritionnel <sup>insuffisant6<\/sup> ou \u00e0 un r\u00e9gime v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien ou v\u00e9g\u00e9talien. <\/p>\n<h5><em><sup>R\u00e9gime<\/sup> v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien3<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Le fer contenu dans les aliments d&rsquo;origine v\u00e9g\u00e9tale n&rsquo;est pas aussi bien absorb\u00e9 que le fer contenu dans les <sup>aliments<\/sup> d&rsquo;origine animale5. Les personnes qui suivent un r\u00e9gime v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien ont besoin d&rsquo;environ 1,8 fois plus de fer que les <sup>non-v\u00e9g\u00e9tariens5<\/sup>. Plus de 7 millions de Canadiens \u00e2g\u00e9s de 18 \u00e0 19 ans suivent un r\u00e9gime v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien. Le deuxi\u00e8me groupe le plus important est constitu\u00e9 de 6 millions de v\u00e9g\u00e9tariens \u00e2g\u00e9s de 20 \u00e0 29 ans. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu&rsquo;environ 10 % des femmes aux \u00c9tats-Unis sont affect\u00e9es par des saignements menstruels <sup>abondants2<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<h5><em>Femmes <sup>enceintes5<\/sup><\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Les adolescentes qui tombent enceintes ont une demande physique accrue en fer3<sup>,5.<\/sup><\/p>\n<h5><em>Exercice physique intense et r\u00e9gulier<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Les personnes qui font r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement de l&rsquo;exercice \u00e0 un rythme intense augmentent leurs besoins en fer de 30 \u00e0 70 % par rapport aux personnes qui ne font pas d&rsquo;exercice \u00e0 ce m\u00eame <sup>niveau5<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<h5><em>Consommation excessive de lait de vache<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>Certains enfants ont une consommation excessive de lait de vache.
