Feramax® is a polydextrose iron complex (PDIC), for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. Feramax® offers many patient benefits compared to conventional iron salts such as ferrous fumarate, gluconate, or sulfate.
Feramax® Pd PDIC is a stable complex of ferric iron and polydextrose. This complex releases the ferric iron closer to the site of absorption in your gut. By contrast, iron salts have ferrous iron ionically bound to a salt. The ferrous iron gets released in the stomach and is responsible for side effects such as constipation, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, dark stools and bloating.
Feramax® Pd delivers the highest dose of iron with 150 mg of elemental iron per capsule. Feramax® is well tolerated and is convenient to take, and has once-daily dosing, with or without meals.
There are no generic equivalents to Feramax®. FeraMAX® is Vegan Certified and does not contain animal by-products. FeraMAX® is recognized by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada.
